How to Deal With The Stresses of Entrepreneurship


Starting and running your own business are often exciting and rewarding, but it also can be very stressful. for many of our almost 40 year marriage my husband has been an entrepreneur and that i have sometimes worked with him. Having built my very own business as a Stress Reduction Coach I even have been reflecting on the stresses of being an entrepreneur.

Signs and sources of stress

Some of the signs of stress overload include irritability, anxiety about the sustainability of the business, and/or high business debt. Relationships within the family can suffer if they are doing not understand the entrepreneurial drive or the time and energy it takes to start out and run a business. for ladies entrepreneurs, the work of running the household and balancing work and residential can create enormous stressors. once you work from home, all the chores that require to be done can pull you faraway from your business. people that are drawn to be entrepreneurs are sometimes idea people that do not like detail and repetitive tasks. Having to figure on those things can create stress also . And when you’re stressed it’s harder to concentrate and focus.

Organize your environment

One of the solutions is to scale back the strain and make an environment that daunts stress. Have an area where you’ll keep everything together and arranged . A written plan of action for the business posted where you’ll see it along side a daily plan can assist you focus the time you’ve got available.

A system that works on behalf of me

I am not an individual who involves organization easily and that i have struggled to seek out how that works. Daytimers and lists help for a brief while, but I even have never been ready to continue with them. One thing I even have found that works is to possess a “big picture overview” of what must be done where I can see it. I even have a billboard board size piece of “static cling” presentation sheet that adheres to my door. It are often easily rolled up and removed if needed. I even have several categories that I’ve posted at the highest of the sheet, like “website,” “presentation,” etc. These are written on standard sized post-it notes in order that they are often easily removed and altered . I brainstorm everything i want to try to to on small post-it notes. After I brainstorm, I then organize the notes within the appropriate columns. I even have a category that says TODAY for the urgent and important things. I can glance at the poster while i’m working and see what else i’d got to do and once I finish what i want to try to to , I can throw the post-it away. If something comes up that’s not posted, I can put it on a post-it note and put it where it must be.

This “system” helped me write many graduate papers and that i used it once I planned and wrote my dissertation. Now it helps me as I plan and work my business. this is often only one technique that helps me reduce the strain of being an entrepreneur.
